What is the difference between a gas sensor and a gas detector?

A gas sensor is normally a component or module for integration. A gas detector is a finished portable or fixed instrument that adds an enclosure, power system, alarms, display, sampling path and other field-use functions.

How do I choose the right gas-sensing technology?

Start with the target gas and concentration range, then compare selectivity, cross-sensitivity, operating temperature and humidity, power consumption, response time, expected life, calibration needs, interface and total project cost.

Is measuring range important when selecting a gas sensor?

Yes. A sensor must cover the expected background level, normal operating range and alarm or control threshold. Check the range, resolution, accuracy and overload behavior on the specific product page and datasheet.

Should I use a sensing element or a sensor module?
